#BJ26CAP120 Is the body ever truly alone in its pain, or only ever alone in believing so? There is always a liminal moment that precedes a long journey, a stretch of stillness when body and bicycle stand together in a darkened room, waiting for a single point of light to lead them both out. Perhaps this is not unlike what precedes Bentang Jawa: a quiet pause before the kilometers begin demanding answers from muscle, breath, and a mind that has, until now, only theorized about endurance. Somewhere along the way, I’m hoping to quietly turn this ride into something closer to fieldwork too, treating my own body as the site, rather than some distant subject out there. The knee negotiating with fatigue, the pulse steadying into rhythm, the small transactions between will and tissue that only hours in the saddle seem to make legible. If I manage it, I’ll try narrating these shifts as they happen, through stories shared mid-ride, an unfinished text open to whoever reads and responds before one feeling has settled into the next.
