Lightning doesn’t strike twice, they say. Turns out, sometimes it does—if you’re lucky and just built a little different to keep showing up. Alhamdulillah. Big thanks to @bentangjawa committee for giving me the chance to ride this year as #BJ5cap15. Finally. So the mantra is simple: Flow—Forming—Riding. This bike and I? We’ve been through a lot. From slow coffee sips to wild ‘what-am-I-doing-here’ rides that end at random fried cassava stalls. “Flow” is when habits turn into rhythm. And rhythm starts to feel like a must. The frame is a 2020 @allcitycycles Cosmic Stallion. A bit flashy in the right light, a lot tough in the wrong place. This bike wasn’t showroom-fresh. I built it piece by piece. “Forming” happens when there’s enough time to shape something with intention. Sometimes that means tinkering, like borrowing a small chainring from my wife’s bike. Mecha GRX810 groupset, GRX812 RD, and a bold 48/30T crankset. XT M8000 11–40T sprocket. Ultegra BB, KMC chain. If I can coast and whistle somewhere during those 16,000 meters, I will. If not, I’ll push. No shame. @envecomposites Foundation 45s on Goodyear Connector 700x35s. Bubbly, comfy, and surprisingly chill. Like that one life lesson my dad randomly dropped. Those tires are still tentative. Route will decide. Cockpit’s 12º-400mm Pro Discover drop bar. 70mm @bikethomson stem, 35mm spacers, and matching Thomson seatpost. Saddle: @prologo.official AGX. Comfort is fuel. Pain in the 🍑? Not cute. Bonus: Aptonia rest bar up front. Perfect for stretching out or pretending I’m way more aero than I actually am. Bags? Fully loaded. @urbncase feed bag + frame bag = snacks & grab-n-go. @apidura 1L top tube + 12L saddle = layers, randomness, and emergency bivvy. @garmin Edge 830 will guide me. Loyal? We’ll see. At least it won’t reroute me into a dead end like Google Maps sometimes does. “Riding” isn’t always about being ready. Sometimes, it’s just about going anyway. This setup isn’t perfect. It’s not shiny. But every bolt’s been through something. Supplesse enough to ride a rando to fulfill my own story. Bismillah.
